Live It: November Challenge
This month’s theme verses:
“…if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” — Romans 10:9
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” — 2 Corinthians 5:17
Talk About It
Michael Tait of Newsboys talks about how each of us has God-given gifts we can use to share God’s love, and shares the example that his father set for him when he was growing up…
How did God reach your heart to lead you to personally to trust in Jesus for your eternal salvation? With your family – or friends – take turns sharing what John 3:16 means to each of you personally.
What’s one word that comes to mind when you think about how God used others in your life to help lead you toward faith in Jesus? Would be something like “listening” or “forgiveness”?
Student Challenge: This month, we’re challenging students to write at the top of a note card “#IAmANewCreation” and then list three transforming characteristics that God has developed in your heart after you started following Jesus. For example, your God-inspired characteristics could be “courage,” “forgiveness” or “trust” in Him.
You can use these characteristics as a starting point to write your own testimony or personal story of how you came to faith in Jesus. That way you have your testimony in your mind when the God gives you an open door to share!
Family Challenge: We’re also challenging your family to create a poster that gives a fun visual of the Gospel explained in Romans 10:9: “… if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
To depict the verse in fun ways, family members can either draw illustrations or cut out images from magazines—such as, a picture of a mouth for the “confess” portion of the scripture. You can ask your younger children to help color the poster and add illustrations such as Jesus rising from the dead or of Jesus in a person’s heart. Now, challenge each other to find at least one person with whom to share this verse during the remainder of the month!
